Paul Peebles

Paul Peebles has been arranging commercial real estate financing for borrowers, developers, and institutional investors since 1987. As National Underwriter at Old Capital, he structures and underwrites financing solutions for multifamily and commercial real estate transactions across a broad spectrum of capital sources, including banks, life insurance companies, CMBS lenders, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, HUD, debt funds, and private capital providers.

Over the course of his career, Paul has successfully closed more than $9 billion in commercial real estate transactions. Known throughout the industry as a skilled deal maker, he combines deep underwriting expertise with decades-long relationships with key decision-makers across the nation's leading lending platforms. His ability to navigate complex financing structures and identify creative capital solutions provides clients with a significant competitive advantage.

Before joining Old Capital, Paul held senior lending and capital markets positions with Merrill Lynch Capital Markets, World Savings Bank, and ITT Commercial Real Estate, where he developed extensive experience in commercial mortgage banking and institutional finance.

Paul is a graduate of the University of Iowa and has called the Dallas-Fort Worth area home since 1992. Originally from Western Springs, Illinois, he is married and has one daughter.

Beyond financing transactions, Paul is passionate about helping investors become successful apartment owners. As co-host of the Old Capital Real Estate Investing Podcast and a mentor in the Old Capital Multifamily Accelerator, he has helped educate thousands of investors on underwriting, financing, capital raising, and acquiring multifamily properties. His goal is to bridge the gap between education and ownership by giving aspiring investors access to the same real-world insights, relationships, and deal-making strategies used by experienced apartment operators. Paul is either a GP or LP on over 10,000 apartment units.

James Eng

James Eng has over 15 years of experience in commercial real estate lending, starting his career as an underwriter at GE Capital Real Estate prior to joining Old Capital in 2015. He has worked with hundreds of investors to help them acquire over $1BN in multifamily properties totaling over 13,000 units nationwide.  James combines his finance, risk, and investor background to find the best loan for clients and to be an indispensable advisor throughout the life cycle of a deal.  Often called "The Professor" of Multifamily Financing, he has produced hundreds of hours of educational multifamily content on YouTube. He received his finance degree from University of Texas at Austin, and now resides in Dallas-Fort Worth with his wife and three boys.
